Microsoft unveiled all-new Surface Laptops yesterday, and they're of particular interest to AMD fans due to their inclusion of exclusively designed Ryzen processors. AMD has published some information on the aptly named Ryzen Surface Edition chips, which comprise the Ryzen 7 3780U and Ryzen 5 3580U.

Both CPUs boast unique performance enhancements such as a highly tuned idle to boost, an additional compute unit (over other Ryzen mobile chips) for extra graphics horsepower, AMD FreeSync technology, and a fully optimized pen interface and Bluetooth stack. Optimizations to the Windows OS and a constant monitoring system also ensure that the Surface Laptop 3 will stay cool while running at its best.

The co-engineering behind the Surface simultaneously provides unprecedented performance and all-day battery life in a sleek, lightweight design at only 3.4 lbs. Like an expertly crafted and finely tuned racecar, Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 offers a unique user experience through several key performance features.

I didn't realize that the optimized Pen interface and Bluetooth stack were implemented on the CPU...

Its about time a real premium offering was engineered with AMD as the CPU/GPU.
Hopefully Microsoft keeps true to the brand and isn't skimping at all on quality or design of system components as other laptop vendors have done with AMD offerings.

I wonder how this chip differs from XBox one's and XBox "whatever is coming next"'s chips? .. and differences between Sony's and Microsoft's AMD chips for that matter .....
