AMD Discrete AIB GPU Shipments Up 17%, NVIDIA Up 4.7%: JPR

Jon Peddie Research (JPR) has shared a new report about how graphics card shipments have increased by 6.8% quarter to quarter and 32% year over year, and with it comes numbers that demonstrate how AMD and NVIDIA have been faring in the market.

It makes sense when AMD is more of a value propostition to Gamers and Nvidia is more and more targeting the semi pro market.

When AI gets to be something bigger you'll see more video cards with more ram and less focus on compute.

Vulcan acceleration for AI works REALLY well. I don't own a equivalently high end Nvidia to test in comparison to. But the LLM has to fit in the vram to truly get that acceleration. It barely touches the compute according to measurements I can see it's still almost all CPU not GPU.
