Software engineer Patrick Schur has tweeted some interesting information pertaining to AMD’s new Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards. Apparently, the Radeon RX 6800 XT is limited to 2.8 GHz, but red team’s flagship GPU, the Radeon RX 6900 XT, can reach clocks of up to 3.0 GHz.

It isn’t clear why there’s a discrepancy in the clock limits between the Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6900 XT. Some users believe that the limitation is legitimate (e.g., silicon related), while others claim that AMD has intentionally restricted the ceiling of the Radeon RX 6800 XT to make the Radeon RX 6900 XT even more...

AMD Rage Mode working as intended, judging by ppl's reaction to this..

Does it matter though? Everything I've seen shows that pushing the clock speed on these cards doesn't net much, if any, performance gain.

Which also makes me think there's some sort of bandwidth limitation on these cards. Pushing clocks on GPU and VRAM doesn't do much. I'd bet that's resolved in 7000 series.
