AMD Releases RDNA 2 “Hangar 21” Tech Demo, but It’s Just a 1080p Video

As promised, AMD has released its new “Hangar 21” technology demo, which is designed to show off the power of its Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards and their ability to handle DirectX Raytracing and other next-generation rendering techniques.



We think it’s an eye-catching piece of work, but we’re not sure why AMD hasn’t released it as a downloadable demo for lucky RDNA 2 GPU owners to enjoy. We’re also confused as to why the demo was only uploaded in 1080p – as the endnotes reveal, all of this was rendered on an AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT, a GPU that should excel at 4K.

Lol oops,

This looks beyond shady. A Tech DEMO is something you can run locally. That's equivalent to releasing a game Demo that you can only watch a video of on youtube.

To be fair, nvidia released its RTX demos weeks after the cards were released. Actually months in the case of the SW reflection demo, as it was first demoed on Volta.

The SW reflection demo ran like sht on my GTX1070Ti, but it did work.

BTW the nvidia marbles demo is not yet availble for download, nor the RTX version of the lunar lander demo and it was released over a year ago.
