Those of you who are planning to pick up an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor at launch to see how well it overclocks may want to keep your expectations low, as there’s indication that the new chip with 3D stacking technology is designed to remain firmly within its advertised specs.
“Brother number one,” a user on Bilibili who appears to have gotten their mitts on a retail version of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D already, claims that the upcoming Zen 3 chip does not support overclocking, a strange omission based on the amount of fun that some enthusiasts have been having in tweaking the performance of its standard sibling and other SKUs in the Ryzen 5000 Series.
