AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000 Series Processors Reportedly Launching March 2022

AMD’s long-awaited, Zen 3-based generation of Threadripper PRO processors will finally launch in just a few months.



This is according to one of VideoCardz’s dependable sources, which claims that AMD is planning to debut its Threadripper PRO 5000 Series processors on March 8, 2022. Their exact specifications remain unknown, but there will reportedly be at least five SKUs. There also appears to be little indication yet as to whether AMD is planning to release non-PRO versions of these new Threadripper chips, code named “Chagal.”



“Board partners that we spoke with have all said the same thing, Threadripper Zen3 simply arrives too late,” VideoCardz noted in its report.



“Those parts were expected to debut alongside the 5000 series more than a year ago. The only logical reason for the delay would be a shift to Zen3+ 6nm chiplets. This is also the reason why...

Hmm...

The PRO's are the ones that use the EPYC socket, right?

I hope they don't skip the standard TRX40 models. I would love a drop in upgrade.
