iPhone owners who are more technically inclined have officially been given the green light to fix their own devices. Apple launched its Self Service Repair program today, which includes a new online store that will offer individual parts alongside other essentials such as tools and manuals. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 will be the first devices to benefit from the program.

The initial phase of the program will focus on the most commonly serviced modules, such as the iPhone display, battery, and camera. Its disappointing how much arm twisting and threat of legislation/lawsuits it took us to get here, but it is nice that it has finally happened.

Time will tell if this is for real, or if it is just a poorly funded, poor availability, poorly maintained form of lip service.

There are plenty of ways you can technically be in compliance, but practically obstruct at the same time.

Oh sure... They will sell you the stuff to "fix" your iphone, then you break it while trying to fix it. Now you have to go get it repaired for $$$.
