CNBC has learned that AT&T is planning to sell its Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment gaming division, which happens to own Mortal Kombat’s NetherRealm Studios and Rocksteady Studios, of Arkham Asylum/City/Knight fame. Big-name publishers such as Take-Two Interactive Software, Electronic Arts, and Activision Blizzard have reportedly expressed interest in a deal that could be worth $4 billion.

How can Mortal Kombat be worth billions?
 
It’s the IP - having access to Harry Potter, GoT, etc is where the money is
 
At a time when people are spending more time indoors and the gaming industry is projected to grow, this seems like a really lazy business decision. Licensing IP to make money is like telling everyone who works for you that the C-Suite doesn't have confidence in your abilities to make the company money.
