Biomutant Sells Over One Million Copies, Broke Even Just a Week After Launch

Stockholm-based developer Experiment 101 released Biomutant in May 2021, an open-world, post-apocalyptic “Kung-fu fable RPG” that allows players to customize weird-looking, mutated animals and take them on an adventure in a world filled with similarly strange creatures. Despite being Experiment 101’s first game, Biomutant is a huge success.



As noted during parent company Embracer Group’s Q1 FT21/22 interim report today, Biomutant has managed to sell over one million copies since its release on May 25, 2021. What’s even more impressive is how quickly the game satisfied its financial overlords; Biomutant broke even just a week after launch.

So what about that.otjer game moving seven million units and not seeing a pay day? Did they draw down a ton of cash from the publisher or something?
