BioWare Isn’t Giving Up on Anthem: Sci-Fi Loot Shooter to Undergo “Substantial Reinvention”

BioWare has finally admitted that Anthem is fundamentally broken and requires a major overhaul to reclaim its dwindling player base.



In a new blog post, general manager Casey Hudson revealed that the sci-fi loot shooter would be getting a “substantial” overhaul, one that would alter the game at its core. This won’t be a mere update or expansion, but a major project to address Anthem’s ongoing problems, which include a poor loot experience, lack of content, and weak end game.



“Over the coming months we will be focusing on a longer-term redesign of the experience, specifically working to reinvent the core gameplay loop with clear goals, motivating challenges and progression with meaningful rewards – while preserving the fun of flying and fighting in a vast science-fantasy setting,” Hudson...

Yea... It's actually going to have to be amazing to get people to jump back in. Lets see what happens!
 
If they can fix the issues with the game, I think there could be enough traction to turn the game around. Destiny 2 wasn't very well received its first year and it's turned around 180 degrees. It's extremely popular and well liked now. Anthem could do the same thing, but the game is going to have to get rebuilt and that's putting it mildly.

I think at this point, EA just doesn't want to write it off due to the costs. So, if they can revamp it cheap enough, its worth a shot.
