Sorry, Halo fans, but Bungie isn’t coming home. Contesting earlier reports from Venturebeat’s Jeff Grubb and Eurogamer (both of which claimed that the developer was in talks with Microsoft about a potential re-acquisition), Bungie CEO Pete Parsons has taken to Twitter to declare that all of the rumors we’ve been hearing are “false.” Evidently, the company is perfectly happy with staying independent.

According to earlier conjecture, Microsoft tried buying Bungie multiple times but failed because it couldn’t agree to the developer’s pricing demands, which must have been exorbitantly high (as you know, Microsoft has huge pockets and plenty of cash to throw around). Pete Parsons has been around since the beginning, so he knows what they had to go through with Microsoft the first time around. Any rumor that points to a deal with Microsoft will have very low credibility because of this. Don't know about active developers, but co-founder Jason Jones is still there as Chief Creative Officer. The CEO Pete Parsons was Executive Producer for Bungie when they were still making Halo games.
