CD PROJEKT RED Seemingly Cancels Plans for Standalone Multiplayer Cyberpunk 2077 Game

Before the release of Cyberpunk 2077, CD PROJEKT RED’s SVP of business development Michał Nowakowski teased that the developer was also working on a standalone, triple AAA multiplayer game that would take place in the Cyberpunk universe and expand the sci-fi franchise. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be happening anymore based on reent comments made by president and joint CEO Adam Kiciński, who mentioned during today’s corporate video that CD PROJEKT RED had “reconsidered” its plans for the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer spin-off. While Cyberpunk 2077 might be getting some sort of smaller online component in a future DLC update, CD PROJEKT RED appears to have placed its grander multiplayer ambitions on the back burner.
