Cyberpunk 2077 Will Return to the PlayStation Store on June 21

Update: Sony has removed Cyberpunk 2077 again from the PlayStation Store, but according to a new regulatory filing made by CD PROJEKT RED, Cyberpunk 2077 will return to the PlayStation Store on June 21.



CD PROJEKT RED’s controversial sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, was pulled from the PlayStation Store on December 17, 2020 following numerous complaints of how badly the title performed on PS4 consoles. Nearly half a year later, it appears that CD PROJEKT RED is finally back in good graces with Sony, as Cyberpunk 2077 has begun showing up again via the store’s search engine (albeit, oddly, with a “just announced” tag). Sony still hasn’t released a statement clarifying why it removed Cyberpunk 2077 in the first place...

Did they really need to? If anything, Sony should have released a statement on why they had even allowed it in the first place -- but I know that would just end up being even more embarrassing for all parties involved. The reasons it were removed were pretty self explanatory I would think, and wouldn't require much comment - it was hot garbage on a PS4 original.

Glad to see it making a return; hope they got it playable, although I still question why they even bothered trying to support the PS4 generation, the original is a far lesser machine than the current PS5 generation, and you can't cherry pick just the PS4 Pro without also supporting the original (Sony licensing rules - which I think make sense for Sony to maintain coherence across a generation).

Wonder if this means a PS5 announcement is due soon?

Actually might be playable on PS4 now. Vid I watched looked a bit on the low rez side, but it seemed smooth enough. Not as jumpy/janky/texture poppy as before
