PEGI has rated Midway Games's DOOM 64 for the PlayStation 4 and PC, which implies that the 1997 DOOM II sequel is no longer a Nintendo 64 exclusive. Gematsu predicts it'll be released on the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch as well ("DOOM and DOOM II ratings by PEGI were also only for PS4, PC. So if DOOM 64 is being re-released it'll be on Xbox One and Switch too, undoubtedly.")
While DOOM 64 wasn't developed by id Software, Midway Games has received a lot of praise for its interpretation of the franchise. Some fans have even described it as a more legitimate sequel than DOOM 3, offering classic gameplay with all-new graphics and art design.
