DOOM Eternal’s Invasion Mode Canceled for New Single-Player Horde Mode

Bethesda and id Software’s brilliant and fast-paced FPS, DOOM Eternal, was supposed to get a very interesting game mode called “Invasion Mode” that would have allowed players to invade other players’ campaigns. Unfortunately, that mode has been canceled. As executive producer Marty Stratton explained in a blog post published today, the “unforeseen consequences of the pandemic and remote working” has prevented Invasion Mode from ever materializing in DOOM Eternal. The good news is that id Software will be implementing a new single-player mode called “Horde Mode” in its place, although there’s little detail at the moment of what that’ll entail. The name suggests that DOOM Eternal players will be put to the test by having to fend off enormous waves of enemies.

If this works similarly to the horde modes in games like Gears of War series and Halo series, then I'm down. Probably a better idea than the invasion mode they were planning. Would be cool if they made this new horde mode co-op.
