EA has announced that its game subscription services, EA Access and Origin Access, will be known as EA Play starting August 18. More specifically, EA Access and Origin Access Basic will be called EA Play, while Origin Access Premier (the premium tier offering extra content, early access, and 10 percent off purchases) will be called EA Play Pro.
EA didn’t elaborate on why it’s doing this, but we’re assuming that giving similar subscription services different names was confusing users. (The only major difference is that Origin Access is for PC, while EA Access is for consoles.) EA Play is also coming to Steam, so a single, overarching name makes even better sense.
Additionally, the company noted that EA Access and Origin Access would be getting a new look on the day of their rebranding. That must mean...
