Thanks to Star Wars Battlefront II, EA has earned itself a place in the Guiness World Records. It's nothing to brag about, however: the award is for the "most-downvoted comment on Reddit," which stemmed from a complaint about unlocking characters.

Battlefront II players weren't happy about having to unlock Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and other classic Star Wars characters through loot boxes. EA jumped into the thread and attempted to diffuse the situation but ended up getting downvoted into oblivion instead.

Since being posted it has accumulated 683,000 downvotes. This comment is hated on a scale that no other comment in Reddit history has reached. The second most downvoted comment in comparison only has 88,906 downvotes.

Good old EA. Just when you think they can't be any more evil... They say, "hold my beer".

Gotta admit that is pretty slimey to force you to buy loot boxes just to unlock the most popular characters in a game.

EA isn't doing so well on the player front.

I don't mind grinding for loot but when it comes to choosing a character I want to play grinding to unlock the character is the most terrible idea/implementation I've ever heard of.

No wonder the downvote was enormously high.
