EA Play Comes to Steam on August 31 for $4.99 a Month

According to a revised image on EA Play’s landing page, Electronic Arts’ re-branded game subscription service is coming to Steam on August 31. The pricing appears to be identical to the old EA Access and Origin Access services – for $4.99 a month (or $29.99 a year), EA Play subscribers can access a huge library of EA titles and play select new releases for up to 10 hours. They also get 10 percent on EA digital purchases.



The premium option, EA Play Pro, is available for $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year. This plan includes all of the benefits of the standard tier, as well as early access to deluxe editions and “pro-level” rewards and content.

I really don't care about this. If anything I suspect this move will let EA keep more money instead of giving it to the developers.

Why? I can postulate several scenarios but would rather leave it alone and see what happens with this.

In my opinion EA play, Xbox live PC (or whatever it's called) Uplay's thing, and I'm sure soon enough there will be something like this from Steam if enough users really want it.

It's like the streaming services... I have Hulu&Disney+, Netflix, Amazon prime, and HBO Max, and that's all I can stomach. Now companies like ABC, CBS, and NBC are getting into the market and diluting the share that HULU had and Netlfix had as marketplaces for their product.

Oh and don't forget apple's thing... and I suppose Yahoo counts with their subscription service offerings as well.

Sigh... This **** makes me want to go back to terrestrial cable.
