Embracer Group Scoops Up Borderlands Maker Gearbox Entertainment for $1.3 Billion

Gearbox Entertainment has revealed that it is being acquired by Swedish video game holding giant Embracer Group in a deal worth up to 1.3 billion. The Dallas-based company will join Embracer as its seventh operating group and utilize its newfound capital to expand its publishing and developmental efforts, the latter of which have already resulted in critically acclaimed franchises such as Borderlands and Brothers in Arms.

If anyone is confused, Embracer Group used to be known as THQ Nordic AB. Apparently they renamed the holding company late last year to avoid confusion with their development subsidiary THQ Nordic.
 
Seems a little pricey for a studio that only makes 1 game.... eh what do I know
