Amazon’s upcoming New World MMO has reportedly been bricking various NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards, many of which appear to be models manufactured by EVGA. According to an investigation by Igor Wallossek, the problem is likely common to EVGA’s GeForce RTX 3090 GPUs due to a design flaw that they allegedly have related to their cooling technology. Wallossek discovered that the bricking seems to stem from the fan control chips that they use, which are getting burnt out by the game. Calling it a “stupid design,” Wallossek suggested that the engineering and components that EVGA applied to these cards were not necessary due to advancements that NVIDIA had made for its Turing and Ampere generations.
