As promised, Square Enix has released a playable demo of the Final Fantasy VII remake, which is available for download now at the PlayStation store. By now, pretty much everyone knows how beautiful the re-imagining of the 1997 classic is, but Final Fantasy fans can find out today whether it plays as good as it looks.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake demo weighs in at 7.55 GB and comprises the first chapter of the game – “the iconic Mako Reactor 1 bombing mission.” Square Enix has warned that the progress will not carry over to the full release of the game, which isn’t too surprising. Content may also be different from the retail version.
