Final Fantasy VII fans can stop worrying whether Square Enix's upcoming remake will play like the original or not. During a demonstration at the Tokyo Game Show, producer Yoshinori Kitase revealed a new combat option called "classic mode," which preserves the turn-based action of old-school Final Fantasy RPGs.

Players who opt for Classic Mode won’t have to “worry about the action side of the combat system,” Square Enix said, “and can instead focus on selecting commands, making it possible to play [Final Fantasy 7 Remake] as if it were a classic menu-based RPG.”

So they went ahead and ditched the bullet time thing, huh?

I am extremely happy for this. It's the biggest reason I don't play many modern RPG's. I can't relax with the live action battles. If I wanna be elbows to knees, I would play something else.

I'm starting to get pumped. I really don't wanna buy a PS4, but if this ends up looking good, I'll be buying one. Unless there is word of PC release soon after launch.
