Hardware platforms will eventually disappear and make way for a future in which all games are effectively multiplatform, suggests Hideo Kojima, the celebrated Japanese video game designer behind the Metal Gear and Death Stranding franchises, who was interviewed by IGN as part of Kojima Productions' seventh anniversary on December 16, 2022, and shared his thoughts regarding various topics, including concerns over how media might be served and interpreted in the future based on advancements that include AI.

That I can almost guarantee will not happen.

As long as a company can find a way to make it sound profitable to shareholders, there will always be vendor lock-in.

My anecdotal evidence: TVs have been around for nearly 100 years and the vendor lock in is getting worse, not better, with the rise of “smart apps”

Seriously, why does anyone listen to this fool?

He directed a couple of games people like, but the more he does on his own the more it casts doubt on whether or not it was his direction which made them good.

Some sort of game god he is not.
