GIGABYTE Leak Confirms AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5000 Series “Chagall” Processors With Up to 64 Cores and 280-Watt TDP

GIGABYTE suffered a major breach recently that saw many of its confidential files fall into the hands of hackers. At least one of these documents has made its way onto the web, and it happens to be one that should be of interest to AMD fans who are mulling an upgrade to its next round of multi-core monsters.



According to the GIGABYTE’s leaked documents, AMD’s upcoming Ryzen Threadripper 5000 Series lineup, code named “Chagall,” will comprise at least eight different SKUs. Five are workstation (WRX80) models with 64, 32, 24, 16, and 12 cores, while the remaining three belong to the HEDT (TRX40) platform and feature 64, 32, and 24 cores.



The flagship HEDT model will be the Ryzen Threadripper 5900X. This is a 64-core, 128-thread processor with 256 MB of L3 cache that includes support for up to 64 PCIe Gen 4.0 lanes and a 4-channel DDR-3200 memory interface...

Hmm.

Compatible with TRX40?

My 3960x is still doing fine, but if there is a lower core, higher clocked version (16-24 cores?) I wouldn't mind a drop in replacement.

I feel like I've sort of wasted the time my 3960x was top dog by not having a top dog GPU to match...
