Interested in Google Fiber? Going forward, it's gigabit or nothing. The ISP has announced that it will no longer offer its $50/month Fiber 100 (100 Mbps) plan to new customers; only the $70/month gigabit plan will be available. According to some subscribers, Fiber 100 plans are being upgraded to a 500 Mbps tier for an extra $5.

We are excited to turn our attention back to our gig service, still offered for $70/month — the exact same price it cost back in 2012 when we first launched. Backed by the power of a gig, our customers are able to fully enjoy the endless opportunities the Internet presents.

I thought Google was basically giving up on their "Fiber" project. Too many issues with the municipalities not allowing access rights or something to that effect. The same crap that's holding Verizon up on deploying more Fiber as well.

That's what I had understood. At least, in some areas anyway.

Im desperate for competition (Google was never going to happen, even though there is no municipal contrac6 anymore)
Starlink might help matters.. hopefully it works out soon enough.
