There was a point in time in which enthusiasts thought they’d never see prices of graphics cards come anywhere near MSRP ever again, but the latest data from 3DCenter.org, a publication that has been diligently tracking the pricing of AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards at major German retailers, indicates a solid trend toward sensible pricing.

As shown in 3D Center’s latest price trend graph for the week ending February 13, average pricing for both NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series and AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards have been dipping steadily since mid-December, with GeForce and Radeon GPUs now sitting at 57% and 45% above their MSRPs, respectively.

While those percentages aren’t too exciting, it’s worth noting that pricing for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards have not been this cheap since August, nor have AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series...

Which MSRP? Nvidia's and AMD's original MSRP's or the AIB's inflated MSRP's?

So, I just did a few searches on Amazon (edited to fix computational errors):

Cheapest 3090 available: $2499 (MSRP was $1499) 67% above MSRP
Cheapest 3080ti available: $1843 (MSRP was $1199) 54% above MSRP
Cheapest 6900xt available: $1589 (MSRP was $999) 59% above MSRP
Cheapest 3080 available: $1399 (MSRP was $699) 100% over MSRP (this is a 10Gig model. The 12 gig never got an MSRP)
Cheapest 6800xt available: $1390 (MSRP was $649) 114% over MSRP
Cheapest 6800 available: $1259 (MSRP was $579) 117% over MSRP
Cheapest 3070ti available: $1088 (MSRP was $599) 82% over MSRP
Cheapest 6700xt available: $889 (MSRP was $479) 86% over MSRP
Cheapest 3060ti available: $816 (MSRP was $399) 104% over MSRP
Cheapest 3070 available: $719 (MSRP was $499) 44% over MSRP
Cheapest 3060 available: $689 (MSRP was $329) 109% over MSRP
Cheapest 6600xt available: $645 (MSRP was $379) 70% over MSRP

Humorously enough the cheapest 3070 was cheaper than the cheapest 3060ti

Either way, the average of all of these was 84% over MSRP.

Maybe this is trending downward, but we still have a LONG way to go.

Still waiting for anything to budge here in Europe.

From the article ...

I know my US-based education may be lacking, but isn't Germany in Europe?

Hmm, now I know my math is terrible, but this seems wrong
for example "Cheapest 6800xt available: $1390 (MSRP was $649) 53% over MSRP" to me that's more then 100% over MSRP

Yeah, you are right. I rushed that one, and must have done something wrong in my except spreadsheet.

The numbers are accurate, the percentages are wrong. I'll fix them.

Edit:. Whoops. Yeah I see what I did. I subtracted for the difference and then divided by the current price instead of the MSRP. Whoops!

Edit2: Fixed in original post. Don't do even basic math while tired folks

It's got even further than we thought to go. /sigh

Not that I think it will get anywhere near MSRP -- we are already seeing the MSRPs for new stuff going higher, so who knows, maybe it is already bottoming out and it just isn't apparent (FML). Heck, this was going on to some extent even before this Covid/logistics/whatever we wanna call it scenario started -- MSRPs creeping up pretty dramatically with Turing, the loss of some of the lower price tiers, etc..

Trend towards sensible pricing.... Right.

I know I was raped on the recent purchase of a 6800 XT. So bad that I am pretty sure I am due some child support. The 3050 and 6500 are two fine examples of way beyond reasonable MSRP for what you are getting. In fact MSRP is a bit unreasonable when it comes to the 6500 at all....

We live in a world where double msrp is a more reasonable price. It's just bonkers. If incsn get s next gen card at close to msrp I'll flip mine for 800 and probably be thanked for a reasonable price.
