Gucci and Xbox have entered into a collaboration to celebrate their respective anniversaries with a swanky, $10,000 limited-edition Series X console bundle. Limited to 100 units, the set comprises a hard case inspired by Gucci’s archival luggage and an Xbox dressed in the fashion brand’s iconic motif. Included are two wireless controllers, both of which feature a red and blue stripe with Gucci logo.

And to think they are ONLY making 100 of these... so a MILLION dollars in Gucci and Xbox marketing value... sigh... talk about a strange cross promotion. Who wants to bet more of these end up in influencer hands than customer hands?

They seem to have enough consoles lying around to make limited editions and stuff, just not regular ones you can buy.

PS you guys should get one for testing

Scalping with style. Wait, are XBOXes hard to come by at all ? I mean I had so little desire to get one that I never even looked up if it's available at retailers since it launched.

You can buy Series S if you want they seem to be plentifull that or noone wants one, Series X is rarer then hen's teeth, I'm still looking for one and have not seen a single update about availability since launch.

Yeah I don't know why anyone would buy an S honestly. The XB1X had faster hardware in it and much more storage capacity (it just couldn't do Raytracing, but then again, the level of hardware the S has, it won't be able to do much even though it has the capability), and I can't think of anything that released exclusive to the Series series that won't also play on the XB1X as well as it does on the S.

I guess it gets you into the ecosystem, but ... so does XBGP on PC, and their streaming service, and the older XBones are still around (X and vanilla). You can buy those new and used for way cheaper and still play almost every single game that has released, as there haven't really been any generation exclusives of note.

Microsoft's strategy this generation seems to be just throw everything at it and see what sticks. It has some good ideas, but very poor/inconsistent execution of them. If they would go all-in on any of them it could be huge, but they keep hedging everything just enough to neuter them. The S is just one example of that: they wanted something lower cost to keep the cost barrier to entry low, but in doing so they made the generational rollout extremely confusing and neglected several other avenues of low-cost access they already had and could have leveraged to greater effect.

In absence of those other services, the S would have been great if this generation had the typical break in compatibility (i.e. you needed a Series model to play the new games), and if it had about a several month delay in release - get the more powerful X out there and established, then bring in the lower cost model to get those sales that couldn't afford it - and that also helps to mitigate the confusion about the model rollout/naming, and it would have helped them gage their supply chain; if they really could afford to devote resources to the S or if the X were in such continual short supply that they should continue to put those resources into X production.
