Hayden Christensen to Reprise Role of Anakin Skywalker for Disney and Lucasfilm’s Live-Action Ahsoka Series

Obi-Wan Kenobi is not the only upcoming Star Wars series that Hayden Christensen will be starring in. According to sources with The Hollywood Reporter, Christensen has also signed up to reprise his iconic role of Anakin Skywalker, aka Darth Vader, in Ahsoka, another live-action series that’s centered on Anakin’s eponymous Padawan. Ahsoka is a fan-favorite Torguta who was co-created by George Lucas and introduced in 2008’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Rosario Dawson is starring as the fan-favorite character Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi Knight survivor popular on the animation side of Star Wars who made her live-action debut in the second season of The Mandalorian.Plot details are being kept in the far reaches of the Outer Rim, but it is known that longtime Star Wars lightsaber wielder Dave Filoni is writing the series...

Dude did the best he could with Lucas' gawdawful dialogue. He actually did pretty good considering. Watch some of his other stuff, he ain't no Deniro but he's got acting chops. Since these shows will be written and headed by Filoni, I think he'll do a pretty good job.

What he was given to work with in Episode II is especially awful.

That’s what you get when Lucas was essentially writing it as they went.

I think Lucas actually had a plan for it. The story was coherent enough. The issue is that no one would reign Lucas in the way they did on the original trilogy. He strikes me as a basic idea man. He's a decent director and all but he can't be left alone to do all of the writing and certainly shouldn't be allowed to write dialog.
 
The only justification I can come up with for that horrible dialog was that it was geared toward a younger, less erudite audience.

George has sometimes said they were movies for children but there is plenty of evidence to the contrary. The multiple severed hands being exhibit A.
 
That's always been part of Lucas' "charm" so to speak. His genius is imagining and bringing to life amazing fantasies that touched billions of lives and literally changed the world. Writing Oscar worthy dialogue and bulletproof plots, not so much.

Star Wars has always been about unplugging your brain and enjoying the story. If you sit there picking apart plot holes and crappy lines, you'll hate it. If you just enjoy the story and allow yourself to get lost in the world/galaxy, there really are no movies like it.

That's why the 3 abortions that were episodes 7, 8 and 9 sucked so bad. Star Wars will never be Star Wars without Lucas' imagination and storytelling which unfortunately also includes the dialogue.

Yeah, I think it was this. He tried too hard to straddle sophistication with an appeal to younger audiences. I mean... Ewoks, Jar-Jar, Anikin pod racing... all of that were direct appeals to young kids. But that's a hard line to tightwalk and he didn't do it well.

It didn't help that the more movies he did, the more he directed his characters to seem wooden and stiff. In IV, I mean, you can feel empathy for Leia as she is looking for help, you can see Luke making a big leap into a bigger universe and growing... but by VI, there isn't a lot of emotion there any more, even with Leia getting captured. And by III, the actors may as well be props with speaking lines - even the final scene on Mustafar, Anakin tries to convey frustrated rage, and I think that's the only time we see his facial muscles work in the entire second trilogy.

I can almost excuse that - as in lore, the Jedi are supposed to be logical and without emotion whereas Sith are all emotional and stuff... but it makes for boring film, and there are an awful lot of characters that aren't Jedi that still act pretty stiff, and the only emotion you really get from Sith is maniacal hunger for power.

And if I were being cynical - he was trying to appeal to young kids because that's where the merchandise market is... but I have no proof of that.

Then there's the third trilogy, which was just a blatant cash grab appeal to nostalgia and marketing. The story doesn't even make any sense there and has only the barest threads of continuity.

Didn't Carrie Fisher (Leia) re-write a lot of the stuff from the original trilogy? I seem to recall reading that somewhere.
