Headset recommendations for loud environment

Hi all,
Curious if anyone has any recommendations for a headset for a loud environment? Specifically, I am attending Quakecon next month and last year found my open-back Sennheiser HD599s let in a bit too much sound. I was really cranking the volume and it was really difficult to get the right level between in-game and people on Discord.

If anyone has any recommendations it would be appreciated. Really only going to use these at lan parties, so would like to keep it under $100, but if it's something really special, I may consider replacing my current set.

I also wonder if a good option is a pair of nice USB-C earbuds that I can pair with some construction ear muffs?

I haven't used the actual headset but with how much I enjoy the earbuds... I don't worry about recommending the headset.
