Hewlett Packard: Your HPE SAS SSD Will Fail at 32,768 Hours Unless It's Updated

Businesses who are running HPE's SAS Solid State Drives may want to check out the company's latest support bulletin. The computer giant is warning that "certain" SAS SSDs models will fail at 32,768 hours of operation unless they are patched with a critical firmware fix. HPE was kind enough to point out that the data from failed SSDs can't be recovered.

Neglecting to update to SSD Firmware Version HPD8 will result in drive failure and data loss at 32,768 hours of operation and require restoration of data from backup in non-fault tolerance, such as RAID 0 and in fault tolerance RAID mode if more drives fail than what is supported by the fault tolerance RAID mode logical drive.

Seems like Samsung or someone had a similar issue with an earlier SSD 5 or so years ago
