Intel’s New Stock Cooler for Alder Lake-S Processors Pictured

An image of one of Intel’s new CPU coolers has leaked, seemingly confirming that the next batch of Alder Lake-S processors will come packaged with a more aesthetically pleasing solution that matches better with modern setups.



As seen in the image shared by momomo_us and VideoCardz, the new cooler features what appears to be translucent black plastic. It also includes a blue ring around the fan, which presumably lights up when the fan is active.

This happens to be one of the same coolers that had been pictured in marketing materials that were leaked back in September. According to those materials, this cooler will be named the Laminar...

Well, the previous design was pretty darn similar, just not quiet as fancy. The new one has a little bit more pizzaz, but doesn't look like it would perform any better really. There appears to be a row of inner fins on the new one that may help some, but there's just not a lot of surface area or mass there compared to most third party coolers.

Yeah, only time I ever used one of these was on the i3-7100 in my pfSense router build.

It does OK in that application, but I don't think I'd ever use one for a desktop client.

I'm sure it will be fine for the low end i5 and i3 processors. I like the fact that it is black this time around as it will blend in better if for some reason you would have a windowed case. The last one of these coolers I used was on an i5 8400 and it cooled that just fine for a internet browsing machine.
