Intel has shared a new video that includes a small teaser for its next-generation NUC, the NUC 12 Extreme.
Code named “Dragon Canyon,” the new NUC will feature an LGA 1700 socket that enables support for a 12th Gen Intel Core i9 desktop processor, according to a component board displayed at the end of the video. This is a notable change from the current NUC 11 Extreme Kit models, which leverage Core i9-11900KB and Core i7-11700B Tiger Lake-H mobile processors.
The component board also confirms that Intel’s Dragon Canyon NUC will feature support for up to three PCIe Gen 4 NVMe M.2 SSDs, Intel Wi-Fi 6E, Thunderbolt 4, 10 GbE LAN, USB 3.2 Gen 2, and HDMI. Two sticks of DDR4-3200 RAM are also shown, suggesting that the NUC 12 Extreme won’t support DDR5 memory.
