Konami Temporarily Removing Metal Gear Solid Games over Historical Footage

Konami has been prompted to remove a handful of Metal Gear Solid games from digital storefronts due to some of the historical footage used for their cutscenes. Apparently, the game giant neglected to renew the licenses for various titles that include HD editions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It’s unclear when these titles will return, but Konami has promised that the removals are temporary.

We are currently working on renewing the licenses for select historical archive footage used in-game, therefore, we have made the temporary decision to begin suspending the sale of METAL GEAR SOLID 2, METAL GEAR SOLID 3 and all products that include these games from digital storefronts globally starting from November 8th, 2021.
