LG has announced that it will unveil its first QNED Mini LED TV at the upcoming all-virtual CES 2021 show. This is an 86-inch, 8K display that leverages a Mini LED backlight comprising up to almost 30,000 tiny LEDs for remarkable brightness levels and a stunning contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. Featuring up to nearly 2,500 dimming zones, the QNED Mini LED TV is also the first display to combine LG’s quantum dot and NanoCell technologies into a single product.



LG points out that its OLED TV offerings are still the superior choice for AV enthusiasts who demand the highest picture quality, but the company’s upcoming range of QNED Mini LED TVs, which comprises 10 4K and 8K models with large screen sizes of up to 86 inches...

2,500 dimming zones for an 86" TV? That is worse density than the FALD in my PG27UQ. 1.264 in² per zone with the TV compared to 0.811 in² per zone with my monitor. They would need to put at least 4,000 zones in that TV to match the monitor's density.
