Sony’s Hideaki Nishino has confirmed that PlayStation 5 consoles will be receiving a major system software update tomorrow that brings a handful of very exciting features to the next-gen system.
They include the long-requested ability to add an M.2 SSD to the console for storage expansion, allowing PS5 owners to store a ton more games than what’s possible on the system’s relatively pitiful amount of internal storage. The PS5 only comes with 667 GB of usable free storage, which really isn’t a lot when games like Hitman 3 and Destiny 2 can require over 100 GB of space.
