Metal Gear Solid and Other Lackluster Konami Ports Now Available on GOG

Earlier this week, we shared news of the original Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid, and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance being re-released on PC. Surprisingly, they’re already here, and not only that, they’re available on everyone’s favorite DRM-free retailer – GOG.com. Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania & Contra, a collection of five classics (i.e., Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Contra, and Super C) has also been released.

Foolish me I was hoping for at least a port of the gamecube version of MGS
 
The focus is on the MGS releases, but you should also avoid these Castlevania and Contra versions. The Konami Collection series is more expensive, but these versions are pretty accurate and work great on PC. Otherwise, just emulate the originals.
 
Silent Hill 4: The Room was released on GOG today. Looks like Konami has a deal to release all their old ports on the service. Looks like this version was patched up somehow, but don't know if it still has other issues like missing effects and cut content that the original had.
