Microsoft to Retire Internet Explorer 11 Next Summer

Microsoft has announced that it will be ending the support of its classic web browser, Internet Explorer 11, on June 15, 2022. The tech giant confirmed the date in an official Windows Experience Blog post today, which pointed out that its new Chromium-based Edge browser serves as a superior alternative thanks its improved speeds, security, and modern refinements. Microsoft 365 and other apps will end support for Internet Explorer 11 on August 17, 2021.

Edge Chromium is... good enough.

Biggest difference outside of personal preference these days of course is the support for various web apps, and that's really the only reason anyone would keep IE around today: some stuff was just never updated.

MS gets around this by keeping an 'IE' mode in Edge Chromium, and while annoying when it kicks in, it is seamless and it does work.
