Mixer's popularity has grown immensely after Ninja announced he would be leaving Twitch and broadcasting on Microsoft's service exclusively, but some streamers have taken the opportunity to complain about its strict clothing requirements. The company has rating-specific guidelines, but even the 18+ category isn't lenient enough, they say:
  • The chest must be covered from the bust-line to the end of the rib cage. No "under cleavage"
  • Clothing that shows the midriff such as crop tops are allowed
  • Strapless tops only if the top can be clearly seen on camera. No one should have to “guess” if the streamer is wearing clothing
  • Situational appropriate clothing is allowed
    • Swimwear that is considered acceptable at a family beach is acceptable when at a beach, pool or participating in a sporting event
    • When at a gym sports bras are allowed to be worn as clothing as long as the breastbone is covered
This is probably Microsoft's way of cracking down on so-called "titty streamers," who are less about gaming and more about making money off of lonely suckers by dressing provocatively. But that hasn't stopped people from calling the rules "sexist."

The 18+ category is where things get noticeably more lenient. Streamers must have their chests covered “from the bust-line to the end of the rib cage,” crop tops are allowed, and strapless tops are allowed so long as it’s clear that the streamer is still wearing a top. Additionally, “situational appropriate clothing” is allowed, such as swimwear at a beach, and sports bra at a gym.

You can say ****, watch a zombie head explode in a game, but god forbid you show a nipple... stay classy MS.

I wonder how long it will be before the first 'breast feeding ban and outrage' incident.

That is literally what they are trying to do =P
Classical art which most would consider part of the taste for upper classes and is considered quite classy contains frequent depictions of the human form. As an adult it is just silly to outright ban one form of depiction in favor of far worse ones honestly. When is the last time a nipple killed somone or made someones feelings get hurt. You want to be classy then ban hate speed on streams like f*g etc. Ban over the top violence, or we can simply act like adults and moderate our own taste with the use of tags and user defined filters such as what Valve has done with steam and is championed as one of the least censorship filled commercial entities.

The point I'm making here is a certain level of responsibility comes with being mature and platforms should not deny freedoms of expression because its considered "icky".

Pretty silly stuff, personally I dont like gated communities.

Great going to have to go to pornhub to watch my gaming streaming now. geeze.

Hate speech isn't real.
There is simply free speech and censored speech.

I see it this way- let there be 18+ channels. If you wanna pander to children, then you do that. If you want a wider audience, then you flag yourself or that particular stream to be 18+. Account verification required for those streams, like a debit card or something, and problem solved.

I think the point is they want it to be about streaming games, not tits. You can go to any porn site and watch that if you want to.

Twitch allows boobstreamers in order to get content and users fast. It's worked out for them pretty well to be honest. Is it shady? No less shady than having boob physics in a game to get more sales and having your volleyball game play more like an otaku dating sim. I'm fine with it. Sex sells and everyone knows it.

On the other hand MS is trying to be a serious gaming streamer site. I'm sorry... no. Game streaming is serious from a business side, and there are competitive people to go and watch play. But it has to also be entertaining. There is a reason every freaking medical drama has the sexiest of actors and actresses on it. Because while the medical drama is fun... people love the emotional/sexual drama. So you build it in and sell the **** out of it!
