MSI has officially launched its flagship motherboard for 12th Gen Intel Core processors, the MEG Z690 GODLIKE. Serving as the final and most impressive member of MSI’s Z690 lineup, the MEG Z690 GODLIKE comes packed with a number of premium features for extreme overclockers and other demanding enthusiasts, such as a full-aluminum heatsink, dual CPU connectors, an eight-layer server-grade PCB, and even a built-in touch LCD for displaying system diagnostics—the industry’s first, according to the manufacturer. MSI did not list a price for the MEG Z690 GODLIKE in its press release shared today, but according to a previous episode of MSI Insider, the premium motherboard will cost $2,099.

It's about the same as the ASUS Maximus Z690 Extreme Glacial. However, the MSI MEG Z690 GODLIKE comes with an AIO rather than a monoblock waterblock solution. It also includes a gimmicky touchscreen. As far as I'm concerned the ASUS is a better value for an actual enthusiast. MSI really needs to sell a version of this sans the touchscreen crap and the AIO. It would still probably be $1,000, but that would give it parity with the ASUS Maximus Z690 Extreme.

Der8auer has a video up on this thing and has for a few weeks now. The touchscreen doesn't actually work that well apparently and even when it does, it's not as useful as it could be.
 
I... does it contain liquid nitrogen it washes your components with as they run in order to keep them sub ambient at all times?

99.99% of most PC enthusiasts would be out at that price. I considered the Maximus Z690 Extreme Glacial, but that at least had a massive monoblock. With this MSI, I like the board but not the extra fluff that takes it well over a grand.

This is a weird one, but it falls into the laundry list of 'not really in their lane' developments that motherboard manufacturers have been working on, like software.

They can barely get RGB going, and this looks like it could be a smartphone app in terms of complexity. Except it runs over USB.

I'm of the mind that if they do this stuff, they just turn it into a USB GPU (which exist), and then provide a capability to stream to it from their software, or to let users stream to it. Plenty of folks are putting small HDMI displays in their cases for various readouts.

In the Der8auer video, he shows that it's an older generation touch screen rather than something like a modern smart phone touch screen. That's part of its problem. Its the softer kind that wears out quickly if you use them a lot. It's very cheap looking.
 
A decent capacitive OLED or relatively modern IPS shouldn't be too hard to pull off, and it's hard to understand why MSI would shoot lower on a halo board. The AIO is also quite silly given that there's very little chance it can handle a 12900k at full throttle!

It better be nice.... I'm sure it'll be a nice for someone. I personally wouldn't want it.
 
I'm starting to think they are making these things for people who just want to feature them on their YouTube channels for the bragging rights.

"Hey, look at me, I spent $2k on a motherboard".

That may impress some of the people on youtube, but I just think you're a moron.

There is nothing that could possibly justify that pricetag for a motherboard, any motherboard, no matter how good it is.
 
Don't forget the DDR5 RAM that's included, not that that will convince me to buy it, but 32GB is still couple hundred $

More like $400+. A decent 360AIO is $150. I mean, mathematically I get the price. Also, the memory should just work since its bundled with the board. If I had that board I wouldn't use the AIO. It's a cool board but I still don't think it's $2000 cool. That said, I'd have given it strong consideration at $1,000 without the RAM and AIO.
 
A board with everything would be worth about a grand.

Can we get enthusiast boards with solid IPMI...?

I'm ok with boards that don't have everything, but at least have the ability to add what I need. Fortunately, for me, most decent, (relatively) sane costing boards fit this bill.
