Netflix’s The Power of the Dog Leads This Year’s Oscar Nominations

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed its nominees for the 94th Academy Awards, and one of the biggest winners for this year’s show could be The Power of the Dog, a Netflix feature. Directed by The Piano’s Jane Campion, The Power of the Dog is an adaption of the 1967 novel of the same name that centers around a rancher, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, who bullies his brother and new wife around before meeting a less-than-desirable fate. The movie leads the Academy’s list of Oscar 2022 nominations with 12 noms in top categories that include best director (Campion), best actor (Cumberbatch), best actress (Kirsten Dunst), and best cinematography (Ari Wegner).
