New LGA 1700 Socket Confirmed for Intel’s 12th Gen “Alder Lake-S” Processors

@momomo_us (via VideoCardz) has shared evidence that Intel’s 12th Gen Core processors (i.e., Alder Lake-S) will require a brand-new socket called LGA 1700. This is a bit of a “sky is blue, water is wet” moment, as blue team loves socket changes (profit!), but the discovery does lend credence to major alleged improvements such as PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 support.

What we know about Alder Lake so far is that it’ll succeed Rocket Lake-S (Intel’s next round of desktop chips) and potentially feature a configuration that mixes...

Meh... wake me up when something unique comes out with a new way of circumventing all of these current vulnerabilities... you know... a new design. THEN I'll be interested. Unless they managed to take the IPC crown back and increase the number of PCIe lanes somehow. I'd be interested in that too!

In order to support new technologies like DDR5 and PCIe Gen 5, this was a given. That's awhile off so I don't really see a big issue with this. Of course, I think everyone is sick of hearing about sockets from Intel every couple of months.
