NVIDIA Confirms 12-Pin Power Connector in New Video, Adapters Will Be Included

NVIDIA has released a video that elaborates on the thermal engineering efforts behind its GeForce graphics cards. About six minutes in, Director of System Engineering Gabriele Gorla reveals that the company has been working on a new 12-pin power connector, which seems to confirm that the GeForce RTX 30 Series (or, at least, the Founders Editions, per rumors) is ditching the traditional 2x 8-pin system. Gorla notes that the new connector is smaller but capable of carrying more power. Adapters will evidently be included.

So are they recommending for anything that uses the 12 pin connector that the customers have a minimum of an 850 watt Power supply?

Yar, hoping there's an answer on this soon. Currently have a 750w, and feel if it is 850w minimum, things will get pricey fast.

I do like that the 12-pin connector is provided. I had heard rumors of PSUs requiring specific adapters for their PSU (the Seasonic adapter reveal started that one, I think).
 
Should have just put the adapter a little closer to the pcb
.. like within it.
So, its nonsense. It will be used for branding and some such nonetheless.

But at least a $100 premium for the FE over AIB makes more sense. Need to pay for the adapter!
