NVIDIA GeForce NOW Beta Update Allows Xbox Owners to Play PC Titles from Steam, the Epic Games Store, and More

Xbox owners can now play select PC titles from Steam, the Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect, and Origin on their gaming consoles. This is made possible by NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service, GeForce NOW, which received a beta update today enabling support for Microsoft’s Edge browser. NVIDIA GeForce NOW has grown to support over 1,000 titles that include recent additions such as Far Cry 6 and Crysis Remastered Trilogy.



From The Verge’s Tom Warren, who shared a clip demonstrating how Steam games can be streamed via Edge on an Xbox console:



It brings the dream of playing PC games on an Xbox a step closer to reality, as the result is easy access to stream PC games to an Xbox. As the base GeForce Now service is free, you can stream popular PC games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, DOTA 2, and League of Legends at 1080p for an hourlong session.

I'm surprised they allowed this given MS has it's own competing cloud service. It's amazing what being #2 will do for your platform.

Geforce NOW is the streaming game service, right?

(Sorry, I can't keep track of all these new branding efforts)

I'm not a fan of streaming game services, but I am all for anything that breaks down platform exclusivity barriers, so I'm willing to call this a win.
