NVIDIA Releases CES Game Ready Driver with Max Frame Rate Capping Feature

NVIDIA has released a new Game Ready driver to celebrate CES. It introduces a highly requested feature.

Users can now set the maximum frame rate for a 3D application or game. This is a great way to save power, reduce system latency, or maintain a specific Variable Refresh Rate range on G-SYNC and other compatible displays.

The CES Game Ready Driver also adds Variable Rate Supersampling. The feature is meant to improve image quality in VR games by dynamically applying up to 8x supersampling to the center of VR headset displays.

Last but not least is an update to the Image Sharpening option in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Users can now enable the GPU Scaling feature without image sharpening.

I am so thankful for a max framerate cap option, i've been using RivaTuner Statistics Server up to now. This is going to be awesome for me, I needed that for recording video on YouTube without tearing but also without having to use Vsync cutting into my latency.

Very nice development I agree -- framerate capping is literally the only reason I use RTSS right now!
 
I'm shocked that it doesn't include:
* Only with Turing Video cards.
