NVIDIA Switching to EPS12V Power Connector for Quadro RTX 6000 (Ampere)?

Moore’s Law Is Dead has shared new photos of NVIDIA’s Ampere-based Quadro RTX 6000. A close-up suggests that the workstation-class GPU, which leverages the full GA102 GPU (10,752 CUDA Cores), has ditched the 8-pin and 6-pin power connectors in the Turing variant for something more simple (in terms of cabling, anyway): EPS12V.



This is a standard that’s traditionally reserved for servers and other power-hungry systems. While EPS12V looks very similar to an 8-pin PCIe power connector, it can deliver over 200 watts of power (the latter is limited to 150 watts). We’re guessing that NVIDIA’s new 12-pin solution for the GeForce RTX 30 Series fell short for Quadro somehow.
