The packaging for Intel’s 12th Gen Core “Alder Lake-S” processors has leaked courtesy of VideoCardz, which shared a handful of images today revealing the box designs that blue team has gone with for its upcoming i5, i7, and i9 CPUs. There’s nothing too groundbreaking here, but the box for the Core i9-12900K appears to be unique in that it’ll have open sides that reveal some sort of wafer design within the package...
My wife wanted to throw all those out and claimed I was the only person on the planet who would possibly do such a thing.
I too tend to put as much as I can from other parts' boxes into the motherboard boxes. I do however keep most of the other boxes, at least until the warranties for those individual parts runs out. Some boxes I keep just for my collection. If the packaging is really special I also tend to keep it.
When I was growing up living with my parents, my mom always got on my case for stuff like that. I had to get rid of video game console boxes, game boxes, and PC parts boxes against my will. As an adult, I don't currently have my own woman to bother me about sh1t like this, but some of my friends do, and they gotta deal with the same nonsense.
I liked the packaging for the Threadripper CPU's and the Core i9 9900K's. It's like a big clear 20 sided die. But generally, I don't. The ****ing things can come in an anti-static bag with a rubber band around them for all I care. So long as the thing gets to me without being broken, it makes no difference to me.
