UserBenchmark database had briefly listed a new AMD SoC codenamed "Flute," and a lot of people seem to think it's the chip that will power Microsoft's next-generation Xbox, Project Scarlett.

The engineering sample is an 8-core, 16-thread chip offering a base clock of 1.6 GHz and boost clock of 3.2 GHz. That may sound ho-hum compared to the latest Ryzen parts, but it's a considerable upgrade from the Xbox One X's 2.3 GHz Scorpio Engine.

On the graphics end is a Navi 10 Lite-based iGPU. No speed was provided, but variants (e.g., AMD's "Gonzalo") allude to a 1.8 GHz clock.

AMD is pretty busy nowadays producing custom-designed chips for Microsoft and Sony. The chipmaker is reportedly producing the AMD Gonzalo SoC for the PlayStation 5, and with AMD Flute now making an appearance, the new rumor is that the SoC will power Project Scarlett.
