Let the hype begin. The chief technology officer of Epic (which recently stunned the gaming world with its Unreal Engine 5 demo) has boldly suggested (via Video Games Chronicle) that Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation consoles can deliver graphics that are on par with modern blockbusters. Apparently, this level of fidelity will be enabled by Nanite, a core technology of Unreal Engine 5 (surprised?) that allows for unprecedented levels of geometric detail.

Like to see this sooner then much later. The demo looked very impressive, how many games will use and approach that level of detail is to be seen.
 
You know what... this just occurred to me. Someone let me know the first 'adult cinema' company that licenses this engine. I may want to test their product. ;)
 
I do think the Epic demo looks good. Cinema good? Maybe not quite but fairly close.

Good enough to get me to buy a new console? Eh, I am probably going to anyway, this didn’t necessarily sway me. Not good enough to convince me to spend $1,000+ on a GPU though.

Funny you should say that. Adult cinema is usually the first to adopt new standards/technology. However I suspect the encroachment of AI into their, ahem, business space is likely to cause some chafing.

Only with a real VR haptic feedback rig. LOL. Or holograms (thinking 6th Day here)

Virtual porn always hits the wall with the uncanny valley stuff. There was actually a really funny 30 Rock episode about that.
