Samsung has officially announced its lineup of 870 EVO SATA SSDs, which comprises 4 TB ($479.99), 2 TB ($249.99), 1 TB ($129.99), 500 GB ($69.99), and 250 GB ($39.99) SKUs aimed toward general and professional use. Thanks to the company’s new controller and V-NAND flash technology, these SSDs are capable of sequential read speeds of up to 560 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 530 MB/s. In terms of random read/writes, Samsung says that its 870 EVO SATA SSDs offer 38 percent higher random read performance and 30 percent improved sustained performance over the previous 860 model.

250GB SSD for an MSRP of $39.

What a time to be alive.

It doesn't seem that long ago I bought my first SSD, a 120GB OCZ Agility for $300.

I guess that was almost 12 years ago, but still...

Agreed. I think my first one was a Corsair 180gb and it was like $300. I still have it around here in a test system I think.

Now they just need to get the pricing down on the multi TB ones.
