Samsung Introduces Exynos 2200 SoC with AMD RDNA 2 GPU, Enabling Ray Tracing on Future Mobile Devices

Samsung has officially announced its latest premium mobile processor, the Exynos 2200.



The Exynos 2200 is significant because it is the first mobile system-on-a-chip from Samsung to incorporate a GPU powered by AMD’s RDNA 2 graphics architecture. According to a press release shared by Samsung, this GPU, dubbed “Xclipse,” will enable hardware accelerated ray tracing (RT) and variable rate shading (VRS) in mobile titles.



“To offer the most immersive graphics and user experiences even on mobile, Samsung has collaborated with AMD to realize the industry’s first ever hardware-accelerated ray tracing on mobile GPU,” the company confirmed in its press release.
